In my experience, art has been a visual journal. It is a way
for me to sort out the thoughts in my brain and to better understand my own
potential as an individual. I am specifically interested in the healing properties of art. I am constantly exploring that link between therapy and art every time I pick up my brush. My own work is filled with layers of meaning and emotion. I create a visual window to my identity and write on the canvas specific challenges and memories. This allows me to understand
myself more and see how beautiful life is. Using art therapeutically is a healthy outlet and often leads to finding answers and epiphanies along the way. I am trying to communicate that art is
more than just an outlet, but an expression of individuality. Each of my pieces are developed from individual ideas and each piece has a story. I conduct extensive research before I begin anything. I have really embraced the creative process in my work and try to personally connect with the piece throughout the entire process. I cannot stress enough the importance of self-reflection throughout the development of the piece. This is not only beneficial for the project but is also a way for one to embrace the therapeutic aspects of art.
